A feasibility study has been completed to determine whether St. Joseph would succeed in having a capital campaign to address pending physical plant issues and to increase reserve funds for future such projects.
Based on the results, both the diocesan office of stewardship and development and the parish finance council recommended that the parish embark upon such a campaign. We await formal response from the Diocese of Metuchen’s College of Consultors to our request to launch a campaign. (Any financial matter that exceeds $25,000 must go before the College; the capital campaign aims to raise in the neighborhood of $500,000.)
Pressing among campus needs is repair/resurfacing of the church parking lot, and repair/replacement of the church roof. In the not-distant future, we also expect to work on the church HVAC system. These repairs could easily cost upwards of $250,000.
A projected capital campaign will be paired with the commemoration of the parish’s 150th anniversary, as one concrete step parishioners can take to provide for our immediate future as a parish.
Much more information is expected to be available in the late spring and early summer. Thank you to all who participated in the feasibility study.
